Biography

Teaching has always been my greatest passion. I’m always eager to share my love and enthusiasm for music with my students. I’ve been a teacher of piano and guitar for over 25 years conducting private lessons from my home studio, as well as in the homes of my students in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.

For as long as I can remember I’ve always found music to be magical. Whether it was that the sounds of a great piece of music could abruptly change my mood, or that a favorite song would stick in my head, these both held a great fascination for me.

At the age of six my mother arranged to have piano lessons for me and I’ve been hooked ever since. I started guitar at age eleven and fell in love with that instrument too.

I received my musical education at the Hartt School of Music and S.U.N.Y. Stony Brook. I studied with Luiz de Moura Castro and Raymond Hanson. After graduating I later continued my studies in composition at the Manhattan School of Music.

I’m a full-time working musician based in New York City. I am a former member of the piano faculty at Greenwich House Music School where I taught for 10 years.  I have performed my own jazz compositions as well as jazz influenced pieces as both soloist and with small ensembles. I’ve also done extensive work as an accompanist, arranger, transcriber, and band coach.
